Workshop on
Femtosecond X-Ray Science

October 17-18, 2000

This workshop discussed recent results and promising new research directions in the area of Femtosecond X-ray Science. Topics included time-resolved crystallography, ultrafast order/disorder transitions in solids, dynamics in warm dense matter, charge-transfer in CMR materials, ultrafast chemical reactions, and high-field phenomena. In addition, the capabilities and scientific applications for a new femtosecond x-ray beamline based on a small-gap undulator at the ALS were discussed.

For more information about the proposed Ultrafast X-ray Science Facility at the Advanced Light Source, a PDF version of the proposal to DOE Basic Energy Sciences is available. Ultrafast X-ray Science Facility Proposal (PDF 775 KB)
